As 2015 comes to an end and 2016 begins, it is shocking to me how fast it was.
2015 has been (not over yet!) an amazing year for me.
It has been a year of growth. The Lord has refined my heart and shaped it in ways I never knew it could stretch.
It has been a year of new beginnings. New decade. New job. New opportunities to serve the Lord.
It has been a year of being present in all circumstances.
This past week, I was talking to my dear friend, Alice. Last year, we did a photography challenge that we quit by February/March 2015. We both have a desire to have a photography challenge, but there is always something missing in it for us.
We wanted a deeper purpose. We wanted a photography challenge that not only challenges us creatively, but challenges us, spiritually. We wanted to have something tangible to look back on and say, “whoa…look at what the Lord did, this year.”
So this year, starting January 1, 2016, we will be experimenting with a photography challenge that is not about the amount of photographs you take, the type of photographs per day, or following a photograph prompt. We will be taking photographs with the spirit of gratitude. With the spirit of eucharisteo. With the spirit of contentment. On another note, if you haven’t, please read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp and read about this. You can also read this article.
The only guidelines we will be following are to blog at least once a week. And to pick up the camera, daily. Every thing else will be discerned on how the Lord leads.
This will be a challenge for me.
It will be a challenge to pick up my Nikon and take a photo. Every. Single. Day.
My photographs are more like this:
But I really want to take more pictures like this:
To say we are excited is an understatement. I know that this journey will not only shape our craft, but shape our hearts, with the perspective of gratitude for all that the Lord has blessed us with. The good, the bad, and everything in between.
We would be honored if you joined us in our adventure. If you do, the hashtag we are using for Instagram or Facebook is: #thecolorfullifechallenge
Live, love, and click.
